Hi, I’m JulieAnne—owner, designer, and proud craft-a-holic behind Stitches by JulieAnne.
My love for sewing started early. One of my fondest childhood memories is sitting with my mom, crafting tiny clothes for my dolls out of brown paper bags. As I got older and joined 4H, my fascination with sewing machines grew—especially vintage ones. I wasn’t just sewing anymore; I was learning to repair and restore the machines themselves.
Over the years, I’ve explored every kind of fabric and pattern I could get my hands on. But no matter what I created, I was always drawn back to bags—specifically, ones that were both stylish and practical. I wanted totes that helped me stay organized in my everyday life. So I started tweaking designs, adding pockets, resizing compartments, and sometimes completely reconstructing bags to better suit my needs.
Word got around. Friends began asking for their own customized totes. We’d sip coffee together, choosing fabrics and dreaming up designs. Like me, they always wanted more pockets! I’d sew, resew, test, and perfect each bag before sending it off—because if it didn’t work for me, it wouldn’t work for them either.
My love for sewing also followed me into my classroom. As a Pre-K teacher, I brought creativity and crafting into the lives of my students. It was a joy to see that same spark light up in them.
In June 2015, I officially launched Stitches by JulieAnne—a labor of love turned small business. Each bag is thoughtfully designed, carefully handcrafted, and thoroughly tested. I believe a tote should be more than just pretty—it should be purposeful, durable, and a joy to use.
Whether you’re carrying books, baby supplies, or your daily essentials, I hope your tote makes life a little easier—and a little more beautiful.
Thank you for supporting handmade.
With joy,
JulieAnne
